Detection Principle
Based on Single Cell Gel Electrophoresis (SCGE), DNA strand breaks are quantitatively analyzed via PI fluorescent staining. Intact DNA remains in the nuclear region, while fragmented DNA forms a comet tail. The extent of damage correlates positively with tail length/fluorescence intensity.
