Monensin is a polyether ion carrier antibiotic, which is mainly used to control coccidiosis in chickens, lambs, calves and rabbits and to promote the growth of ruminants. Monensin can affect the ion balance of the worm, resulting in the rupture and death of the worm. On the second day after infection, the coccidia developed to the stage of the first generation merozoite. Monensin can also increase the feed utilization rate and weight gain rate by increasing the yield of rumen propionic acid. Monensin has a strong effect on Gram-positive bacteria (especially Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Bacillus subtilis) and Treponema pallidum, but its effect is weak in animals, so it is not suitable for antibacterial. Prevention and treatment of chicken coccidiosis, lamb, calf and rabbit coccidiosis; combined with bacitracin zinc and flavomycin can improve weight gain rate and feed utilization rate.
