Aripiprazole is a new type of highly liposoluble quinlinone derivative. Its pharmacological action is characterized by being both a postsynaptic dopamine D2 receptor antagonist and a presynaptic dopamine D2 receptor agonist. It also has the effect of activating the D1, D3 and D4 receptors; It has a dual effect of partial receptor antagonism or activation on the 5-HT 1A receptor; It has a complete antagonistic effect on the 5-HT 2A receptor. This characteristic is different from the first-generation and atypical antipsychotic drugs, namely the second-generation antipsychotic drugs, and thus is called a dopamine system stabilizer or the third-generation antipsychotic drug.
