Bactenecin is a kind of peptide or precursor peptide with antibacterial activity produced by some bacteria through the ribosome synthesis mechanism in the metabolic process. It presents a narrow inhibitory spectrum to the same strains of the same species. By perforating the target cells, inhibiting peptidoglycan synthesis, interacting with ribosomes or tRNA to inhibit protein synthesis, and directly degrading the target cell DNA, thereby playing a bacteriostatic effect.
