Antimicrobial peptide cathelicidin is a type of peptide found in polymorphonuclear leukocyte lysosomes, with a high recognition domain (cathelin domain) and a highly variable cathelicidin peptide domain. This type of peptide is a tryptase peptide isolated from different kinds of mammals. Cathelicidin was initially found in neutrophils, but was later found in many other cells, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, or hormone 1,25-D activated epithelial cells and macrophages. The cathelicidin family has first-order sequence homology with cysteine proteinase inhibitors. Antimicrobial peptide cathelicidin FALL-39 is a polypeptide composed of 39 amino acids, which has certain research value.
