Ivermectin is widely used in gastrointestinal nematodes, pulmonary nematodes and parasitic arthropods of cattle, sheep, horses and pigs, intestinal nematodes of dogs, ear mites, scabies, heartworm and microfilariae, and gastrointestinal nematodes and ectoparasites of poultry. This product is a derivative of avermectin. It is an oral semi-synthetic broad-spectrum antiparasitic drug. Most, but not all, nematodes of all life cycles are affected; It is effective against the microfilariae of Onchocercium, but not against the adults. It is also effective against Strongylus faecalis, which is confined to the gut.
