Benfotiamine is an amphiphilic S-acyl thiamine derivative. It is a lipid-soluble vitamin B1, which improved the low bioavailability of water-soluble vitamin B1 and increased the concentration of thiamine in blood and tissues, so the therapeutic effect enhanced.

Application

Benfotiamine has been widely appeared on the market of the world, including the United States, Japan and Europe. It has tablets, granules and other forms.

(1) Used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency;

(2) Used for supplementing when demand for vitamin B1 increased and there is insufficient intake from food (fatigue syndrome, hyperthyroidism, pregnancy, lactation, intense physical labor, etc.);

(3) Used for the treatment of non alcoholic Wernicke encephalopathy;

(4) Used for treating beriberi;

(5) Used for the treatment of diseases speculated to be related to vitamin B1 deficiency and metabolic disorders, such as neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral nerve paralysis, myocardial metabolic disorders, constipation and other gastrointestinal motility disorders.
