English name: Potassium iodide Chemical formula: KI Molecular weight: 166.01 Shape: Colorless or white cubic crystal. Density: 3.13 g/cm3. Melting point: 686℃ Boiling point: 1330℃. Solubility: Very soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and glycerol. The aqueous solution turns yellow when exposed to light and free iodine is precipitated. After adding 20ml of water to dissolve, add iodine and ethanol, stir to dissolve, and then add appropriate amount of water to make 1000ml to make iodine tincture. Taste and smell: salty and bitter; Others: Potassium iodide aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline.
