Solid Phase Extraction , abbreviated as SPE, is a sample pretreatment device developed from chromatography column for extraction, separation, and concentration. It is mainly used for sample pretreatment of target compounds in various food, agricultural and livestock products, environmental samples, and biological samples. The basic principle of SPE is the distribution of samples between the two phases, that is, between the solid phase (adsorbent) and the liquid phase (solvent). The mechanism of retention or elution in SPE depends on the active groups on the surface of the analyte and adsorbent, as well as the molecular forces between the analyte and the liquid phase.
