Broad enzyme inhibitor which inhibits PKC, NADPH, NADPH oxidase, NO synthases, 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase.

It also mimics glutathione peroxidase.

It shows neuroprotective, anti-cancer, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions.

It also shows antiviral activity and inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 M^pro protease (IC₅₀ = 0.67 µM).

Selectively inhibits Gq protein signaling and enhances differentiation of brown adipocytes.
